The most famous and well known 'mask' of the Baga people is the Nimba or d'mba. It has a typically enlarged head with pointed elongated features and always with a large pair of breasts. These 'masks' can be extremely large and sit on the shoulders of dancers during joyful ceremonies such as weddings, births and harvest festivals.

This Nimba is very large and with the most wonderful detail and colour. Likely made in the first quarter of the 20th Century and used extensively by the Baga people for decades.
